Don't Miss the Glory!

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their
voice is not heard.        Psalm 19:1-3 NIV

     How do we explain the glory of God? The heavens declare, recount the splendor and wealth of God. They proclaim, announce, inform the world about all God has made. Day after day they bubble out, gush forth, and celebrate, promising, explaining, and displaying the glory of God. There is no communication, in part or in whole, where there is a lid or cover on their voice so that it cannot be proclaimed and heard.
     Today, the glory of the Lord is being displayed across our beautiful state. Spring is here. That means Bluebonnets and other wildflowers. They are popping up everywhere—blue, yellow, purple, pink, orange, red, white and every shade and combination of said colors. Some of them are bright and eye catching. Some hide beneath the shelter of others and you must look closely to see the individual flowers—God’s glory on display!

     One evening I remarked to a friend about the beauty of the sunset. He answered, “Thank you. My Father made that.” I have never forgotten those words. Spring is a special reminder that my Father created the earth and all that is in it. Creation shouts God’s glory from field to field, over the hills, through the valleys and across the plains. Between the prickly pear cactus and from underneath the limestone boulders, God’s glory is on display. I don’t want to miss it.

     Back to the beginning question, how do we explain the glory of God? We think of God’s glory as all creation, and that is certainly part of it—only part. God’s glory is the manifestation of his divine attributes of holiness and love as well as His character and His nature. His Glory is revealed in His mercy, grace, compassion, faithfulness, forgiveness and justice.

     Every day God’s Glory is displayed in all the earth, sea and sky. It is both manifested and revealed in ways we can see. Watch for Him! Search for Him! Catch a glimpse of Him!  Don’t miss the glory!

     Not only do we see God's glory, but we have the ability to give glory back to God. We give glory to God when we resemble Him. So, as we walk through our day, let us be diligent in our revelation of God’s glory by living a life filled with mercy, grace, compassion, faithfulness and forgiveness. Don’t miss the glory!
