And
the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit
will
come upon you, and the power of the
Most
High will overshadow you, therefore the
child
to be born will be called holy—the Son of God…”
Luke 1:35 ESV
Holy is His name! Although Christ would be
born through a woman, His Holy conception allowed His entry into our world
without the sinful nature of all other human beings. Holy!
In
Luke 1:41 we read that John, still in his mother’s womb, recognized the Holy Child
when Mary walked into the room. The Scripture tells us that Mary’s cousin and
John’s mother, Elizabeth, was “filled with the Holy Spirit” as she too
recognized the holiness of the Child in Mary’s womb.
As we begin our focus on Christmas, it is
my hope that Christians everywhere will remember the holiness of the Child born
in a manger. He is God incarnate. He is Lord, and He is holy!
May we never forget—Holy is the Lord!
