God is Able

But my God shall supply all your
need according to his riches in
glory by Christ Jesus.
     Philippians 4:19 KJV

On January 12, 2010 an earthquake in Haiti devastated parts of that country and shook the emotions of the compassionate in the world. People sent money, clothes, medicines and food with an unadulterated show of love and concern.

The dead and injured—estimated at 300,000 in each category, staggered the mind. In the midst of all that pain and suffering, a call went out asking for any wound-care specialists available to make the trip from the United States to Haiti. The trip to and from Haiti would be paid. However those going had to provide their own way to and from Florida as well as take their own water, some medical supplies, a typhoid shot, etc.

After much prayer, our daughter-in-law, Crystal, and our son, Scott, made the decision that she must go. The need for airline tickets, shots, and supplies would cost several hundred dollars. The need was greater than their supply. However, God began to meet every need and she was soon on her way to Florida.

Some last moment unexpected changes once again called for God’s intervention.  There were flight change fees and overweight luggage fees and Crystal sent out a call to friends and family to pray as she waited at the airport and began to get a bit nervous about the need for additional funds.

We began to pray and just before she left the ground she sent an email to confirm all was better than well. She sent a list of her updated needs, recounted a conversation with an airline employee who asked where she was going and what she would be doing, and reminded family and friends of God’s great love and care for His children. Below is part of that email.

             “Two checked luggage $50
            Flight change fee $50
Fee for overweight luggage $50 each bag

            After conversation with airline employee—
Fee waived and clerk quoted Psalm 92 and committed to pray for
me while I am in Haiti—PRICELESS!!!!!!!!

Another example of God’s provision. Keep praying! It is working! God has
completely provided everything I will need! I am in awe of my Lord and
            Savior, Jesus Christ!!!”

After praising God for His provision, I picked up my Bible and began reading Psalm 92, an exhortation to praise God, and was once again reminded of our Heavenly Father’s great love and care for His children.

Our God is able to do above and beyond anything that we can think or ask. Do not be afraid to answer with a resounding yes when He calls you—perhaps to an unexpected place at an unexpected time. He does His best work when we have our greatest need.
